Today people sometimes spend hours everyday checking Facebook, updating their status, posting photos, commenting and ‘liking’ posts!

Like any other addiction, it’s possible to become a Facebook Junkie.  If you wake up and instead of following the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Sunnah by:

  • Supplicating Allah
  • performing Wudu
  • praying Fajr

you pick up your smartphone to check your Facebook Followers and update your status, then you may be one of the millions of Facebook fanatics!

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said “There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.”

It is important for muslims – especially the youth – to organise their time effectively and not to waste time on things that do not bring a benefit in the worldly life or the afterlife.

Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I dislike to see any of you aimlessly, neither working for his worldly life or for his hereafter.
